Give Thanks Always
Tomorrow many of us will set aside the day for the Thanksgiving holiday. This annual day of giving thanks and spending time with each other can sometimes fly by with fun, love, games, and tons of food; but often the day passes without the actual “giving of thanks” portion that this day has been set aside for. Yes, family, fun, and food are all awesome, but let’s not forget to enjoy all of that through the lens of thankfulness. We must be conscious of what we have, to truly appreciate it. You can’t celebrate something (being thankful) unless you actually are thankful.
Are we really thankful?
Do we truly feel an awareness of being thankful for all things great and small? AND shouldn’t we be aware of this all the time, not just one day of the year?
The Bible tells us in 1 Thessalonians 5:18 to “give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”
Thankfulness is more than a feeling, it's more than a one-time event; it is an awareness that what I have and who and what I am surrounded by, I am thankful for all the time and in every circumstance. It really is a practice that we have to exercise always.
So I first want to say, Happy Thanksgiving, and I am thankful for you! Second, I want to encourage all of us to approach tomorrow and every day with a practice and an awareness of thankfulness and gratitude!
Blessings,
