The Path to Your Dream is the Work in Front of You

I am a dreamer. I love to sit and think about what could be, what might be some day, what is becoming, and what has never been done. I want to be witness to, part of, and a supporter of things/people/movements/organizations that make a notable and massive difference. 

I have been this way for as long as I can remember, but I have been vocal about it most of my adult life. I am also a detail person, so I am fully aware of the steps, obstacles, and challenges in front of such realities. Because of these two seemingly conflicting parts of my being, the dreamer and the process parts of me, I have come up with this little saying to explain how it works on the inside. 

I am hopelessly optimistic, and I am constantly disappointed... and I'm okay with that, because next time, maybe it will be different.

With this perspective I have had to battle the tendency to fall into lack of focus on todays tasks, or even discontentment with todays tasks, because my heart is so on fire for some future that is stirring in my heart and mind.

I have learned that is okay, but it is also something I need to be very careful to guard, and here is why.

Whether I understand it or not, whether I see it or not, whether I like it or not today is getting me ready for my bright tomorrow. The tasks, the challenges, and the reality in front of me will determine what kind of tomorrow I have. 

Luke 16:10 says, "He who is faithful in a very little thing is faithful also in much; and he who is unrighteous in a very little thing is unrighteous also in much."

I am learning, that God uses the little opportunities in front of me today, to both prepare and train me for the medium sized opportunities in front of me tomorrow, and those will prepare and train me for the large sized opportunities in my further future. 

So my friends, dream on! Dream big, and dream abstractly in ways that scare your linear thinking friends. 

So when you're dream is clear, get to work with what is in front of you now. The dream you want to walk into is more than your now, but your pathway to that dream, is through faithful service in the tasks in front of you.
