He is Far Better Than We Know
One of the greatest indicators of how I'm doing as a Dad is seen in how my kids act around me. Now obviously, my kids are responsible for their own actions, but hear me out.
When my kids apologize before they even say a word, I'm too busy. When my kids approach me sheepishly I'm being grumpy. When my kids run up to me with joy, and jump over my paperwork and interrupt me without hesitation, I'm doing pretty darn good.
It's amazing how what we believe about someone impacts how we approach them. This is certainly true about God. How we view Him affects how we approach Him.
For many of us, we approach God as Father, based on experiences with our own Father. This can be a great thing, or a bad thing, depending on our circumstance. The good news is, although our view of God can be affected by others, God is certainly not defined by it. The truth is, God is far better than we know.
Psalm 34:8 says, "Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good! Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him!"
The love God has for each one of us, the plans and purposes He has for our lives, the thoughts that He has toward us are far better, far more kind, far more loving than we could ever fully understand.
James 1:17 "Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change."
Here's what's true for each one of us. God loves us unconditionally, He desires to bless and help us in our journey. He is so good.
Let me close with this, as you pray this week, as you consider God's thoughts toward you this week, consider first His character. He is an indescribably good and loving Father. Approach Him with confidence, knowing He loves you!
